What are up and over garage doors?

Up and over garage doors are one of the most popular garage door options in the UK. Up and over garage doors come in two different types of mechanisms.

Canopy systems – a canopy up and over garage door is attached to the frame on rolling wheels either side and a folding arm. As the door is opened the wheels move up the frame to enable you to open the door. Canopy up and over garage doors tend to be one of the most cost-effective options you can get although is not recommended for electrical door systems. If you require an electrical canopy door system you will need a bow arm converter.

Retractable systems – A retractable mechanism is usually slightly more expensive but they are more practical and bear the weight of double doors or wider single doors. A retractable door is attached to the garage via spring-loaded side arms and is suitable for electrical systems without any additional equipment.
