Garage doors are available in many different materials and they all have their own benefits. The material you choose will depend on a lot of factors – your price range and overall budget, appearance, colour. Here are some of the most common materials for a garage door:
- Steel. A two-layered steel door will be an excellent investment as it will be good for insulation and longevity. There is a chance that it will rust through, and it could get dented if you’re not careful.
- Fibreglass. These also provide good insulation and can be made to look like a number of other materials, like wood.
- Aluminium. This is a very lightweight material and is perfect for large canopy-style doors that might otherwise be difficult to open.
- Wood and timber. Arguably the most beautiful types of door are made from wood. They will require the most maintenance, though.
- Vinyl. Known for strength, vinyl doors are sturdy and very difficult to damage.
